Privacy Policy

The short version: your location history stays yours, on your own devices and in your own iCloud account. We don't run servers that store or receive your data, and we can't see where you've been.

Roamlight ("the app") is a travel-mapping app for iPhone, made by JustaGuy Software LLC ("we"). It reveals a map of the world based on the places you have been. This policy explains exactly what data the app uses and where it lives.

What the app accesses

• Location. With your permission, Roamlight uses your device's location, including in the background, so it can reveal the places you visit even when the app isn't open. Location access is optional and can be turned off anytime with the in-app "Track my travels" switch or in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services.
• Photos (only if you choose to import them). Roamlight reads the location and date stored in your photos to light up places you've already been. It reads only that information, on your iPhone. Your photos are never uploaded or copied anywhere.
• Files you choose (Roamlight Plus). If you import a Google Maps Timeline export, the app reads that file on your iPhone and keeps only the locations it needs.

How your data is stored

Your travel history, including the areas you've revealed, your recent path, your Someday list, and the places you've unlocked, is stored in two places, both controlled by you:

• On your device, in the app's private storage.
• In your personal iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit private database), so your map syncs across your own devices and follows you to a new iPhone. If you're not signed in to iCloud, your map stays on your device only.

Data in your private iCloud database is governed by Apple's privacy policy and is accessible only to you. We have no ability to read it.

Services from Apple

To show place names like "Lisbon, Portugal" and to let you search for places to add, Roamlight uses Apple's built-in mapping and geocoding services. When it does, the relevant coordinates or search text are sent to Apple and handled under Apple's privacy policy. Roamlight doesn't send your data to any other company.

Purchases

Roamlight Plus is a one-time in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details, name, or Apple ID. The app only learns whether Plus has been purchased.

What we do not do

• We don't run any server that collects, receives, or stores your location data.
• We don't sell, rent, or share your data with anyone.
• We don't use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking code, in the app or on this website.
• We don't build a profile of you or combine your data across services.

Removing your data

You can remove any place from your map in the app under Your Travels › Manage, and undo any import from Add Past Travels. Deleting the app removes its on-device storage. To remove the synced copy, open iOS Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Account Storage and delete Roamlight's data.

Children

Roamlight is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same address with a new "Last updated" date.
